This privacy notice together with the company's terms and conditions sets out the basis on which any personal data collected from you, or that you provide to MJS, will be processed by the firm or the firm's agents. MJS hold personal information on our clients. MJS are required - under data protection legislation - to notify you of the information contained in this privacy notice.
It is important that you read this notice - together with any other privacy notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal information about you - so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information.
What information do we collect? We collect your personal data because it is necessary in relation to taking steps to enter into a contract with you and/or performance of a contract with you. We may collect, store and use the following personal information:
a) Your name, address telephone numbers and personal email addresses.
b) Your alarm key holder and user details.
c) A list of risks and hazards found at your premises to safe guard ourselves and Police officers who may attend.
Where we need to collect personal data by law - or under the terms of a contract - if you fail to provide that data when requested - we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide a Police URN request)
Information we receive from other sources
We do not collect information from credit reference agencies, statutory and regulatory bodies and other organisations.
We do not collect any sensitive personal data about you, such as information about your race, political opinions or religious beliefs.
In addition, we do not knowingly collect personal data from, or direct our content towards, those under the age of 16.
How do we use your personal data?
Your data is on our database for the purposes for which we collected it. We do not sale any data. We do share some of the data we collect with the Alarm Receiving Centre (SMS) if your system has remote signalling, the local Police and our inspection board (SSAIB).
We use this information to:
• carry out on-going maintenance and service visits.
• issue a Police URN and continue updates
• issue a SSAIB certificate.
• provide monitoring of alarm signals.
• provide invoicing and maintenance renewals.
Change of Purpose
If we need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and we will explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.
Please note that we may process your personal data without your knowledge or consent, in compliance with the above rules, where this is required or permitted by law. We will not share your personal data with others, unless:
• we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal details in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our rules.
• our business enters into a joint venture with, or is sold to or merged with, another business. We may then share your personal details with our new business partners or owners.
• professional advisers acting as processors or joint controllers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers who provide consultancy, banking, legal, insurance and accounting services.
• HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances.
• You have agreed to it being shared with third parties for relevant marketing activities and we have obtained your prior explicit consent.
We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

How long do we keep your personal data for?
We only keep your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.
To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data - and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means - and the applicable legal requirements.

How secure is my data?
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.
In addition, we limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
Any card payment transactions details like card number will to be kept after the card transaction is complete
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted by email or payment completed by you by bank transfer. Any transmission or transfer is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
